A guide to Sections

This is adapted from a very useful blog entry on how to achieve sections on a drupal website each with their own separate themes.

The basic gist is to create different CCK types for different section pages (News, Sports, Editorial, etc.). Apart from CCK, the requisite models are Sections, Token and Pathauto.

In Pathauto, make sure you've got automatic path aliases for different content styles:
News/[title-raw]
Sports/[title-raw]
Editorial/[title-raw]
etc.

Then visit the Section module and make new sections, such as News, assign a (currently enabled) theme to it, and get it to recognize those paths to assign section membership to:
News
News/*

...it's just that simple!

The Sections module was the way to do this with Drupal 6, or at least one way. The Drupal 7 way of achieving this is with the Themekey module.
